You’re scrolling through a video of a hidden tea house , or you spot a photo of a hand-carved stool in a niche designer’s studio on social media. Maybe it’s a piece of "functional art" you saw during a trip to China that you’ve regretted not buying ever since.

You want it. But there’s a gap.

You don’t know the maker’s name. You can’t find a link on Amazon. And even if you found the shop on a Chinese app, they don’t ship to your front door.

That gap is exactly why we are formally introducing Procurement as a core service at You Can’t Bring It With You. We’ve always been about discovery; now, we’re making sure that discovery doesn't end in frustration, but in access.

We Aren’t Just Another Store

When we (Leon, the platform geek, and Ryan, the boots-on-the-ground finder) started this journey, we realized that China’s most interesting things—the handmade, the cultural, the independent—are often the hardest to get.

We don’t want to be another generic marketplace. We want to be your eyes and ears in China, helping you access the things that have a real story.

How "Procurement" Works (The Human Way)

We don’t believe in automated sourcing. We believe in investigation. When you ask us to find something, it kicks off a personal process:

Show Us What You Found: Send us a screenshot, a blurry video, a link, or even just a description of that "thing" you can't stop thinking about.
We Investigate: Ryan and our team go to work. We track down the maker, verify the quality, and make sure it’s the real deal—not a mass-produced knockoff.
We Tell You the Truth: If we find it, we’ll tell you the cost and how we can get it to you. If it’s poor quality or impossible to source safely, we’ll tell you that too. We are curators first, providers second.
We Bring It To You: Once you say yes, we handle the purchase, the quality check, and the complex journey from a local Chinese studio to your home.
